Sequential Trial of G17DT for the Treatment of Advanced Pancreatic Cancer

Compare the effect of G17DT with that of placebo on the survival of subjects with advanced pancreatic cancer.

Gemcitabine Hydrochloride and Cisplatin With or Without Veliparib or Veliparib Alone in Treating Patients With Locally Advanced or Metastatic Pancreatic Cancer

This randomized phase II trial studies how well veliparib together with gemcitabine hydrochloride and cisplatin works compared to gemcitabine hydrochloride and cisplatin alone in treating patients with pancreatic cancer that has spread from where it started to nearby tissue or lymph nodes (locally advanced) or spread from the primary site (place where it started) to other places in the body (metastatic). Veliparib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as gemcitabine hydrochloride and cisplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. It is not yet known whether giving veliparib together with gemcitabine hydrochloride and cisplatin is an effective treatment for pancreatic cancer.

A Study to Evaluate the Safety and Efficacy of A2B530, a Logic-gated CAR T, in Participants With Solid Tumors That Express CEA and Have Lost HLA-A*02 Expression

The goal of this study is to test A2B530,an autologous logic-gated Tmod™ CAR T-cell product in subjects with solid tumors including colorectal cancer (CRC), pancreatic cancer (PANC), non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and other solid tumors that express CEA and have lost HLA-A*02 expression.

The main questions this study aims to answer are:

* Phase 1: What is the maximum or recommended dose of A2B530 that is safe for patients
* Phase 2: Does the recommended dose of A2B530 kill the solid tumor cells and protect the patient's healthy cells

Participants will be required to perform study procedures and assessments, and will also receive the following study treatments:

* Enrollment and Apheresis in BASECAMP-1 (NCT04981119)
* Preconditioning Lymphodepletion (PCLD) Regimen
* A2B530 Tmod CAR T cells at the assigned dose

Impact of Early Implementation of Narrative Medicine Techniques on Patient Centered Attitudes of Medical Students

A qualitative study assessing the impact of early narrative medicine practice on Medical Honors Program (MHP) students' attitudes regarding patient-centered interactions, through interviewing patients with chronic or life-limiting illnesses to obtain their illness stories.

MHP students will develop a patient narrative for the patients interviewed. These narratives will be edited by the patient, and, with the permission of the patients, may be published as a collection of stories.

A Dual Channel Supraglottic Airway Device (LMA Gastro) for Oxygenation in Patients Undergoing ERCP

This clinical trial compares the effect of LMA Gastro, a dual channel supraglottic airway (SGA) device, to oxygenation with standard nasal cannula for endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). An ERCP is a combination of imaging scans and endoscopy that helps doctors diagnose and treat conditions of the pancreas and bile ducts that requires general anesthesia or procedural sedation. Anesthesiologists often use SGAs or nasal cannulas to help patients breathe while they are asleep during procedures. An SGA consists of an airway tube that connects to a mask, which is inserted through the mouth and placed at the back of the throat to keep the airway open while patients are under anesthesia or sedation. The nasal cannula is a device that fits in a patient's nostrils and delivers oxygen through a small, flexible tube while they are under anesthesia or sedation. The goal of this trial is to compare the effects of the LMA Gastro to nasal cannula when used to deliver oxygen to patients while they are asleep during their ERCP procedure.

Intra-operative Application of HEMOPATCH to the Pancreatic Stump to Prevent Post-operative Pancreatic Fistula Following Distal Pancreatectomy

Despite improvements and advances in pancreas surgery, about 30-35% of patients who have pancreas surgery develop a type of complication called a pancreatic fistula. A pancreatic fistula occurs when fluid produced by the pancreas leaks into the abdomen after pancreas surgery. Patients who develop a pancreatic fistula can have poor short-term and long-term consequences.We are studying the effect of a medical device named HEMOPATCH on the development and seriousness of pancreatic fistulas. HEMOPATCH is a thin, flexible bovine protein-based pad that may improve tissue sealing where it is applied during surgery. Some small studies called case studies of between 2 and 7 patients, and two clinical trials have shown that HEMOPATCH is effective at stopping bleeding and reducing drain output after some types of surgery. However, there have been no completed clinical trials using HEMOPATCH to prevent or reduce pancreatic fistulas in patients having pancreas surgery, so we don't know if it works in this setting. Health Canada has approved the use of HEMOPATCH as a device to stop bleeding or seal other bodily fluids for procedures in which the control of bleeding or leakage of other body fluids or air by standard surgical techniques are either ineffective or impractical.

Effects of Aromatherapy with Essential Oils on Anxiety and Depression in Perioperative Patients with Pancreatic Cancer

The objective of this study is to investigate whether aromatherapy essential oils are effective in alleviating anxiety and depression in participants undergoing perioperative pancreatic cancer treatment. Researchers compared aromatherapy essential oils with a placebo (a substance that appears similar but contains no essential oils) to determine their efficacy in reducing anxiety and depression in these participants. Participants were required to undergo aromatherapy for 2 hours daily over a period of 15 days. Assessments of anxiety and depression were conducted one day before surgery, 14 days after surgery, and 42 days after surgery, with their scores recorded accordingly.

Study of DCC-3084 in Participants With Advanced Malignancies Driven by the Mitogen-Activated Protein Kinase (MAPK) Pathway

This is a multicenter, Phase 1/2 clinical trial to evaluate DCC-3084 alone or in combination with other cancer therapies in participants with advanced cancers. Module A will enroll participants with advanced/metastatic solid tumors. Additional modules exploring other cancers may be added to the master protocol at a later date. Each module will be conducted in 2 parts: Part 1 (Dose Escalation) and Part 2 (Dose Expansion).

Impact of Total Intravenous Anesthesia Following Cancer Surgery, TIVACS Study

This phase II trials studies the impact of total intravenous anesthesia (TIVA) following cancer surgery. Surgery and the anesthesia delivered causes physiologic stress and trauma resulting in immune suppression. TIVA is an alternative method of general anesthesia that has several benefits over volatile inhalation agents such as reducing nausea, vomiting, and opioid consumption, and promotes earlier return of bowel function following surgery. In addition, TIVA is less immunosuppressive than inhalational agents and has been shown to decrease cancer cell proliferation, migration, and metastasis formation. Giving TIVA during cancer-directed abdominal surgery may decrease the immunosuppressive state in the peri-surgical period.

Effects of Prehabilitation and Early Mobilization for Patients Undergoing Pancreas Surgery.

Open upper gastrointestinal surgery includes surgery in the upper abdomen such as ventricular, duodenal, pancreatic and biliary tract surgery. After upper abdominal surgery there is a risk of gastrointestinal and cardiopulmonary complications. There is currently insufficient knowledge about the effect of prehabilitation and extra early postoperative mobilization in upper pancreatic surgery.

This study's aim is to evaluate the effect of prehabilitation and extra early mobilization.

The study includes two substudies:

1. A prospective cohort of 75 patients undergoing pancreatic surgery after a prehabilitation program will be compared to 75 historical controls. Primary outcome is postoperative complications.
2. A randomized controlled trial based on 72 patients undergoing pancreatic studying the effect of extra early rehabilitation. The intervention group will be mobilized to bedside, standing or sitting in armchair <6 hours after surgery, ie 3-4 hours after arrival at the Postoperative Department (PIVA). The control group will be mobilized according to routine i.e. the morning after surgery. Primary outcome is PaO2.
