The goal of this clinical research study is to learn about symptoms related to chemotherapy and the disease, in patients with advanced pancreatic cancer. Researchers will study the possible reason for these symptoms by drawing blood samples and comparing the test results to the symptoms you experience. The study will also use a special telephone system for measuring the symptoms of participants during and after therapy. Your level of physical activity will also be studied using a pedometer and study diary.
Adenocyte has developed LINFU®, (Low Intensity Non-Focused Ultrasound excitation of the pancreas) as a method of identifying early, asymptomatic pancreatic cancer and its noninvasive precancerous lesions.. In this study, LINFU® will be evaluated in the general population with no risk factors and who exhibit no signs or symptoms of disease, This study will help determine if LINFU® can be used to help identify early, asymptomatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) or their precursor lesions (PanIn-2, PanIn-3).
The purpose of this study is to explain the provision of palliative care at the end of life by the implementation of the ELNEC course, as WBT Program using the Normalization Process Theory, that focus attention on how complex interventions become routinely embedded in practice. In addition to, identify the changes implemented by the participant nurses (intervention group) in their clinical practice, after participating in WBT Program to provide Palliative Care alongside with usual care versus usual care only (control group) for children with life-limiting conditions or in the case of accidents/sudden death, at the end of life. And finally, provide findings that will assist in the interpretation of the trial results.
This two-part randomized controlled trial aims to evaluate the impact of pre-test video education as compared to pre-test Chatbot education.
This study will be a retrospective chart review of patients who have been diagnosed with benign or malignant pancreatic disease under the practice of Dr. Rohan Jeyarajah, M.D., Dr. Houssam Osman M.D., and Dr. Edward Cho M.D., Sc.M. at Methodist Health System Hospital in Richardson, TX. The Investigators plan to conduct an analysis of patients meeting the inclusion criteria from 2005 to present. Study will also be conducted by the PI, Sub-Is, surgery fellows, office staff and clinical research coordinator who are delegated to do by the PI. Data will be obtained by looking through either the investigator's patients from their practice or through a national database. Data will be analyzed primarily by the study conductors.
Phase 1 study evaluating feasibility, safety, and immune response to a personalized neoantigen vaccine combined with retifanlimab for MMR-p mCRC and mPDAC patients with measurable disease following first-line FOLFIRINOX/FOLFOXIRI (FFX).
The study aims at evaluating spatially resolved gene expression profiles of pancreatic and ampullary adenocarcinoma at favorable prognosis after surgical resection, in order to identify molecular features associated to a less aggressive biologic behavior that may benefit from upfront surgery.
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining more than one drug may kill more tumor cells.
PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combining gemcitabine, leucovorin, and fluorouracil in treating patients who have locally advanced or metastatic cancer of the pancreas or bile duct.
RATIONALE: Varenicline, the nicotine patch, and nicotine gum help people stop smoking. It is not yet known whether varenicline is more effective than the nicotine patch given together with nicotine gum in helping smokers quit smoking.
PURPOSE: This randomized clinical trial is studying varenicline to see how well it works compared with the nicotine patch given together with nicotine gum in helping smokers in a methadone treatment program stop smoking.
This study is a multicenter prospective randomized controlled trial. Potential participants in this study include patients referred for Endoscopic Ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) of a solid pancreatic lesion at one of the participating centers. If the patient meets inclusion criteria and signs the informed consent, they will be randomized into one of the two study arms in a 1:1 ratio. Patients will either undergo EUS-FNA with or without an on-site cytopathologist present during EUS-FNA. Patients assigned to the on-site cytopathologist arm will have the cytopathologist dictate the number of fine needle aspiration (FNA) passes performed by the endosonographer. This number will be based on the adequacy of specimen and the ability to provide a preliminary diagnosis. In the other arm, in the absence of an on-site cytopathologist, the endosonographer will perform a predetermined number of 7 passes (standard of care in the absence of an on-site cytopathologist). The technique of performing EUS-FNA (needle type, use of stylet, suction) will be standardized among all endosonographers in order to rule out confounding factors. After EUS-FNA is performed all slides will be sent to the pathology department. The slides will be sent for review regardless of which arm the patient is randomized into, and they will be reviewed by experienced cytopathologists for the purpose of determining the final diagnoses.
Future clinical intervention will be monitored for the purpose of reporting the impact EUS-FNA has on the patient's clinical course and determining diagnostic accuracy. Patients will be followed prospectively for at least one year, and the gold-standard for final diagnosis of pancreatic malignancy will be defined by the presence of malignant cytology or histologic evidence (if the patient undergoes surgery) or with clinical and/or imaging follow-up consistent with pancreatic cancer (death or clinical progression). A detailed account of medical equipment used during each procedure, procedure time, clinic visits/hospitalizations due to procedure related complications, and number of repeat procedures will be recorded systematically.
The investigators hypothesize that an on-site cytopathologist during EUS-FNA for pancreatic masses improves diagnostic yield, accuracy, and lowers the duration, complications and the need for repeat procedures.
